About Price Chopper
Price Chopper was first established in New York’s capital district in 1932. They operated under many names and they managed many supermarkets since then.
It was initially known as Central Market, before changing its name to Price Chopper in 1973. Its headquarters are conveniently located in New York. This headquarters was established in 2010, in Nott Street, downtown Schenectady.
Price Chopper witnessed its first out-of-state expansion in the late 1980s. By the 1990s, it had about half a dozen supermarkets spread out in parts of the New England region. Most of these stores were located in Vermont and Massachusetts.
In 2014, Price Chopper CEO Jerry Golub, along with the executive chairman of the board, Neil Golub, announced that they’d be implementing a change to the brand’s name, changing Price Chopper to Market 32.
As of 2020, the project has yet to be fully implemented, but it has been highlighted that it might take up to 9 years for the full change to take effect.
